Florida College, Carolina Have CAC Women’s Volleyball POW Recipients
Florida College senior Cassidy Lee and junior Taina de Lima Nunes join Carolina University (North Carolina) freshman Kai Horta in earning the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week awards.
Lee, the Attacker of the Week, tallied 80 kills and had a .295 hitting percentage as the Falcons went 5-0 for the week and 4-0 against CAC teams. The middle blocker had 10 or more kills in each contest. The Fort Pierce, Florida, native tallied 25 kills in a five-set win against Carolina last Friday. She opened the week with 14 kills against Ave Maria University (Florida) last Tuesday.
de Lima Nunes, the Setter of the Week, collected an impressive 200 assists and averaged 10.53 assists per set across five matches. She posted 54 assists in the 3-2 win against Carolina. The Sao Paulo, Brazil, native then added 47 assists in another five-set triumph against Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) last Friday.
Horta, the Defender of the Week, delivered a record-breaking performance for the Bruins with 35 digs in a match against Florida National University. The Miami native had 133 digs, including 6.05 digs per set, across five matches last week. Horta also posted 31 digs against Haskell Indian Nations, 27 digs against Hesston College (Kansas), and 22 more digs against Florida College.
