Upperclassmen Garner CAC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honors

A senior and two juniors have been recognized for their strong play on the court as Continental Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Players of the Week to close out the month of August.

Florida College senior Fiona Sampaio, the Attacker of the Week, posted 70 kills and had a .097 hitting percentage across five matches for the Falcons. The outside hitter opened the week by having 16 kills in three consecutive matches. She had 16 kills compared to just four errors for a .364 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep against Ave Maria University (Florida) last Tuesday.

Simpson University (California) junior Brooke Sarahina, the Setter of the Week, averaged 7.59 assists per set and totaled 129 assists across five matches. She compiled 39 assists in a 3-0 win against CAC opponent Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) last Friday. Sarahina opened the week with 30 assists against Park University Gilbert (Arizona) on Wednesday and OUAZ on Friday.

Florida National University junior Ariana Long, the Defender of the Week, recorded 60 digs to help the Conquistadors win four of their five matches for the week. She had 16 digs and five kills against Kent State University Tuscarawas and eight kills in FNU's 3-1 win over Penn State University Fayette. Long also picked up three total blocks for the week.
