Fisher’s Barnes, Florida College’s Selvidge and Iowa Wesleyan’s Hafenstine Garner CAC Volleyball Weekly Honors
Strong performance by a pair of seniors and a junior from three difference institutions have been recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.
Fisher College (Massachusetts) senior Macy Barnes, the Attacker of the Week, was a catalyst as the Falcons won three of their four matches for the week. The outside hitter collected 67 kills across 14 sets and posted an impressive .448 hitting percentage.
Barnes recorded 25 kills and added 20 digs in a 3-1 win against Dean College (Massachusetts) last Saturday followed by a 13-kill performance in a sweep against Massachusetts Maritime Academy later in the day. The Duarte, California, native registered 54 digs and averaged 3.86 digs per set to help Fisher defensively.
Florida College senior Emilie Selvidge, the Setter of the Week, tallied 73 assists for the week, with a 31-assist performance coming in a 3-0 win against Florida National University last Thursday. She had 27 assists in a 3-1 loss to Webber International University (Florida) later in the day.
The Brandon, Florida, native averaged 7.30 assists per set across the Falcons' three matches for the week.
Iowa Wesleyan University junior Alexis Hafenstine, the Defender of the Week, helped anchor the Tigers' defense in a pair of matches. She posted 46 digs and averaged 6.57 digs per set for the week. Hafenstine tallied 35 digs in a four-set loss to Graceland University (Iowa) last Thursday.
The junior also recorded five service aces for the week, while being IW's most consistent service receiver.
