Seniors Named Final CAC Softball Players of the Week

Westcliff University (California) senior Rachel Varela and Florida National University senior Brunella Beteta have earned the final Continental Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week awards for the 2026 season.

Varela, the Hitter of the Week honoree, batted .714 (5-for-7) in a doubleheader sweep against the University of La Sierra (California) last Friday. The infielder went 4-for-4 with two triples and two doubles in her final home game as a Warrior. She totaled 11 bases and successfully stole one base.

Beteta, the Pitcher of the Week award winner, went 1-1 while not allowing an earned run across two appearances and 13 innings. The right-hander tossed a one-hitter in a 1-0 victory against the University of Fort Lauderdale (Florida) last Monday. She recorded eight strikeouts in the outing. Beteta then tossed a complete game against No. 22 St. Thomas University (Florida) the next day.

The 2026 CAC Softball Championship is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 29, with five teams competing in the double-elimination tournament taking place at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
