Carolina, Georgia Gwinnett Players Share CAC Softball Honors

Carolina University (North Carolina) junior Nathaly Ochoa and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Kailyn Berry have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week to start the final month of the regular season.

Ochoa, the Hitter of the Week, batted .667 (10-for-15) and scored nine runs as the Bruins won three of four games last week. The Lynwood, California, native had multiple-hit performances in all four contests. She was 3-for-3 and drove in two runs, while scoring three times, in a 13-12 win against Livingstone College (North Carolina) last Wednesday. Ochoa began the week by going 3-for-4 and scoring twice against Bluefield University (Virginia).

Berry, the Pitcher of the Week, was outstanding inside the circle with a 2-0 record and a 1.26 earned run average across three appearances. The Duluth, Georgia, native began the week by scattering five hits in a complete-game victory against Cumberland University (Tennessee) last Tuesday. She allowed just two hits in a 2-1 win against No. 20 University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky) in last Friday's series opener.
