Georgia Gwinnett, Florida National Players Earn CAC Softball Players of the Week Honors

Georgia Gwinnett College sophomore Casey Beaver and Florida National University junior Sophia White have earned the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week awards after strong performances on the diamond.

Beaver, the Hitter of the Week, tied the single-game program record with five hits in the opener of last Saturday's doubleheader at No. 25-ranked Lindsey Wilson University (Kentucky). The outfielder batted .750 (6-for-8) and scored four runs in the games.

White, the Pitcher of the Week, had a 3-0 record and 1.17 earned run average across three appearances inside the circle last week. She struck out 10 batters in an extra-inning victory against the University of Northwestern Ohio last Wednesday. White then tossed a shutout last Saturday in a 1-0 victory in another extra-inning game against Lawrence Tech (Michigan).
