Florida National’s Julien, Georgia Gwinnett College’s James Earn CAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

Strong performances at last weekend's CAC Classic have garnered Florida National University junior Alyssa Julien and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Kailynn James honors as the Continental Athletic Conference Players of the Week.

Julien, the Hitter of the Week, helped the Conquistadors win four of their five games at the CAC Classic by hitting .500 (8-for-16), with three runs batted in.

The catcher from Sanford, Florida, also scored four runs and successfully stole one base.

James, the Pitcher of the Week, won both of her starts last weekend. She struck out 17 batters and posted a 0.70 earned run average.

The Bethlehem, Georgia, native struck out a career-high nine batters in a 10-1 win against Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) last Saturday. She also had eight strikeouts in a complete-game victory against Columbia College (South Carolina) last Friday afternoon. The right hander allowed four hits in each outing.
