Simpson’s Welch, Georgia Gwinnett College’s Jarvis Earn CAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

Impressive diamond performances have had Simpson University (California) sophomore Madyson Welch and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Annalise Jarvis collecting the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week awards.

Welch, the Hitter of the Week, batted .667 by collecting four hits in six at-bats as the Red Hawks won all three games last week. She drove in six runs and scored three additional runs in the games.

The infielder went 2-for-2 with two RBI in a 3-1 triumph against Arizona Christian last Monday. Sheh then went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a home run in a 9-5 win against Park University Gilbert (Arizona) the next day.

Jarvis, the Pitcher of the Week, became the seventh player in NAIA history to record 1,000 career strikeouts in last Saturday's performance against CAC opponent Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina).

For the week, the Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, native had a 3-0 record and a save across four appearances in the pitching circle. She struck out 33 batters and allowed just three hits in 18 innings.

Jarvis tossed her eighth career no-hitter with 10 strikeouts against United States Sports Academy (Alabama) last Friday. She also tossed a one-hit shutout at Oakwood University (Alabama) last Tuesday.

Then, against Spartanburg Methodist College, Jarvis struck out eight of the nine batters she faced in securing a save in the opener of the doubleheader. She followed by tossing a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the second game of the day. Her history-making 1,000th strikeout came in the top of the fifth inning.
