Spartanburg Methodist’s Starnes, Georgia Gwinnet College’s Jarvis Collect CAC Softball Weekly Awards

Strong performances by Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) junior Gracie Starnes and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Annalise Jarvis have earned Continental Athletic Conference Players of the Week awards.

Starnes, the Hitter of the Week, batted .429 behind six hits and five RBI as the Pioneers went 2-2 for the week. The outfielder scored two additional runs and posted a .500 slugging percentage across the four games.

Jarvis, the Pitcher of the Week, tied a GGC single-game record with 17 strikeouts in a shutout last Tuesday against Reinhardt University (Georgia), a team that received votes in the NAIA preseason poll. For the week, the Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, native had a 2-0 record, with two shutouts and 25 strikeouts across 15 innings.

Jarvis also has set a program career strikeout record by surpassing 600 strikeouts in just over two seasons in Lawrenceville.
