Spartanburg Methodist’s Porras, Carolina’s Wilson Named CAC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week
Leading their teams to strong performances on the pitch has led Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) sophomore Brandon Porras and Carolina University (North Carolina) junior Joshua Wilson to earn the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week awards.
Porras, the offensive honoree, scored two goals and assisted on two other tallies in a 4-3 win against Johnson & Wales University (North Carolina). The Greenville, South Carolina, native followed with a goal in a 3-3 draw against Washington Adventist University (Maryland).
Porras is the first Pioneer since James Sharpe to accomplish two goals and two assists in the same match since September 27, 2022, against USC-Union.
Wilson, the defensive player of the week, helped lead the Bruins to wins in his two goalkeeping appearances. He made three saves and posted a 1.59 goals against average. The junior stopped two shots in a win against West Virginia Tech last Saturday. Before that, Wilson played 80 minutes and made one save in a 4-1 triumph against fellow CAC opponent Spartanburg Methodist last Tuesday.
