Florida National’s Delwing Named 2023 CAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year

Florida National University sophomore Ricardo Delwing headlines the 2023 Continental Athletic Conference men's soccer all-conference team as its Player of the Year. The team and special honors were selected by league head coaches.

Washington Adventist University (Maryland) collected three specialty awards: Freshman Gregorio Capponi, Goalkeeper of the Year; freshman George Tidmarsh, Newcomer of the Year; and Daniel Carroll, Coach of the Year.

Bellevue University junior Taariq Ganga shared the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Delwing helped anchor a defensive unit that posted seven shutouts for the No. 14-ranked Conquistadors. He also contributed offensively, scoring five goals and having one assist while starting 15 of the 17 matches he appeared in. Delwing earned the CAC's 2022 Newcomer of the Year award.

Capponi posted nine shutouts and .825 save percentage that led to a 9-3-2 record in 14 starts for Washington Adventist. He made 47 saves and allowed just 10 goals in his first collegiate season.

Tidmarsh paced the Shock's offensive attack with 13 goals and six assists for 32 total points. The midfielder attempted 50 shots, with 27 being on goal, while starting 12 of the 16 matches he appeared in this fall.

Carroll guided Washington Adventist to a 10-5-2 overall record and 4-1-1 mark against league opponents – strong attributes that qualified the program for its first appearance in the CAC tournament. The team's record was a four-win improvement from 2022.

Ganga had a stellar season protecting Bellevue's goal, with eight shutouts, 68 saves, and a .810 save percentage. He allowed just 16 goals in 20 matches. That helped the Bruins post a 12-5-3 record and winning the CAC tournament title in a 5-4 penalty-kick shootout against Florida National.
