Florida College’s Johnson, Spartanburg Methodist’s Outhous Named CAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

Florida College freshman Sam Johnson and Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) sophomore Sophia Outhous have been recognized with the Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week awards.

Johnson, the men's honoree, covered the 8-kilometer course at Embry-Riddle Classic in 28:29 to place 32nd out of 144 runners last Saturday. The Saltillo, Mississippi, native was the fifth highest NAIA finisher in the race that also featured NCAA Division I and Division II runners.

Outhous, the women's award recipient, set a personal best 5-kilometer time (19:42.8) at the Brevard XC Classic last Saturday. The Irmo, South Carolina, native posted the 10th fastest time over the distance in program history.
