Shutout Victories Highlight 2025 CAC Women’s Soccer Championship Semifinal Matches
The top two seeds in the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship relied on shutouts to post semifinal round victories Sunday at Georgia Gwinnett College's Grizzly Soccer Complex.
Tournament host and top seed GGC defeated No. 4 seed Florida National University 6-0. Then, No. 2 seed Bellevue University (Nebraska) picked up a 4-0 triumph against No. 6 seed Dakota State University (South Dakota).
Sunday's triumphs set up a title match between Georgia Gwinnett and Bellevue on Tuesday, November 11, starting at 4 p.m.
Here are recaps from Sunday's semifinal matches:
Match 3: Georgia Gwinnett College 6, Florida National University 0
The top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College scored four first-half goals to defeat No. 4 seed Florida National University 6-0 in Sunday's first semifinal match.
GGC scored all four of its first-half goals in the opening 17 minutes of the match.
Kendra Delgado scored a goal and assisted on another tally. She found the back of the net during the fourth minute before contributing an assist on a goal by Christy Noble in the ninth minute.
Hannah Lorenz followed with assist and a goal on the tournament host's next two goals. She delivered a corner kick that Barbora Kadlecova converted into a goal in the 14th minute. Lorenz then scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box during the 17th minute.
In the second half, Gabby Stone registered both goals for the Grizzlies. She first found the back of the net in the 77th minute after consecutive passes down the left side of the pitch by Rikke Steenhold and Alliyah Rosales. Stone's second goal of the match came during the 84th minute.
The Grizzlies outshot Florida National (3-8-1) by a 20-6 margin, including an 11-0 edge during the first half.
Florida National's Latyfath Ubeda and Ellen Meijer led the Conquistadors with each having two shot attempts. Goalkeeper Andrea Oropeza recorded six saves.
Match 4: Bellevue University 4, Dakota State University 0
No. 2 seed Bellevue University (Nebraska) scored twice in each half to defeat No. 6 seed Dakota State University (South Dakota) in the second semifinal match.
The Bruins (11-2-2) started off strong with Baylee Tex netting goals in the seventh and 28th minutes.
Aileen Perez, the 2025 CAC Newcomer of the Year, found the back of the net during the 66th minute to give Bellevue a 3-0 lead.
Katrina Avila capped the team's scoring with a tally in the 72nd minute. Mia Hurt provided an assist on both second-half goals.
Bellevue outshot Dakota State by a 34-2 margin, with 21 shots being on goal. Dakota State (1-13-3) goalkeeper Sierra Verplancke made 17 saves to keep her team within reach.
Sunday's semifinal match was a rematch from the regular season when Bellevue was victorious 9-0 against Dakota State.
