Strong Performances Lead to CAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Awards
Multiple goals paved the way for Bellevue University (Nebraska) sophomore Baylee Tex and Georgia Gwinnett College junior Gabriela Rosas to earn the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards.
Tex, the offensive honoree, scored twice, including the match winner, in the Bruins' 4-2 victory against Mount Marty University (South Dakota). The Platteview, Nebraska, native found the back of the net in the 29th minute to break a 1-1 deadlock. The midfielder struck again during the 72nd minute for the match-winning goal.
Rosas, the defensive recipient, came forward to record the first hat trick of her career in the Grizzlies' dominant 6-1 home victory against the University of Mobile (Alabama) last Saturday. The Gainesville, Georgia, native scored a pair of first-half goals before capping off the historic day with an insurance tally in the closing minutes. It was the 24th hat trick in program history. The defender tallied seven points – tying for the third most points in a single match in GGC history. Rosas scored on all three of her shots in the match.
