CAC Women’s Soccer Announces Players of the Week
Helping lead their respective teams to road wins has led Bellevue University (Nebraska) senior Aileen Perez and Georgia Gwinnett College sophomore Elle Sarter the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week.
Perez, the offensive award winner, scored the match-winning goal in a comeback victory at Dakota Wesleyan University (South Dakota) last Saturday. The Thornton, Colorado, native found the back of the net in the 78th minute to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead. The team rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the contest.
Sarter, the defensive honoree, was phenomenal in protecting the goal across two matches against nationally ranked opponents. She made a career-high nine saves in the Grizzlies' 3-1 upset triumph at top-ranked and defending national champion SCAD Savannah (Georgia) last Saturday. The Bassingborne, England, native stopped two shots with the lone goal allowed being a penalty kick in a 1-0 setback to No. 21 Truett-McConnell University (Georgia) last Tuesday. For the week, she posted a .846 save percentage and recorded 11 saves.
