Wiley’s Hernandez, Allison Tabbed CAC Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
Helping lead Wiley University (Texas) to an unbeaten week has led junior Yajaira Hernandez and freshman Destiny Allison to receive the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards.
Hernandez, the offensive honoree, scored three goals for the Wildcats, including finding the back of the net twice against Arlington Baptist University (Texas) last Friday. The Edinburg, Texas, native scored the game-winning goal in a 4-1 triumph.
The defender also scored in the 64th minute during Wiley's 1-1 draw against NCAA Division III Centenary College (Louisiana) last Wednesday.
For the week, Hernandez totaled seven shots, including six shots on goal.
Allison, the defensive recipient, made six saves in the draw against Centenary in the team's first match of the week. The Carthage, Texas, native recorded three saves in picking up the victory against Arlington Baptist – her second win in goal for the Wildcats this season.
Allison leads the CAC with 53 saves so far this fall.
