Bellevue’s Jauregui, Fisher’s Leo Earn CAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors
Strong performances on both ends being in front of the goal helped Bellevue University (Nebraska) Ximena Jauregui and Fisher College (Massachusetts) Olivia Leo to be named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week.
Jauregui, the Offensive Player of the Week, scored a goal and assisted on the game-winning tally in the Bruins' 2-0 victory against College of St. Mary (Nebraska) last Wednesday. She also notched an assist in last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Dordt University (Iowa).
The sophomore from Cancun, Mexico, leads Bellevue with 19 points and nine assists, while standing second with five goals scored. Jauregui has earned the offensive weekly award for the second time this season.
Leo, the Defensive Player of the Week, earned her shutout of the season Sunday in Fisher's 1-0 win against the University of Maine-Presque Isle. The sophomore goalkeeper made six saves in the match, including a diving save on a shot from inside the 18-yard box.
The Dunmore, Pennsylvania, native had eight saves in another 90 minutes of action in a loss at Suffolk University (Massachusetts) last Tuesday.
