University of Victoria Leads After First Round of 2026 CAC Women’s Golf Championship
The University of Victoria (British Columbia) enjoys a seven-stroke lead after Monday's first round of the 2026 Continental Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship at Rockwind Community Links Golf Course, being hosted by the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico.
The No. 36-ranked Vikes posted a 335 team score to lead No. 41 Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), which had a 342 team score. Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Southwest are tied for third place after carding 353 rounds. Texas A&M University-Victoria had a 409 team score, while Florida College rounded out the field with a 472 team score.
Victoria's Cindy Koira made five birdies in recording a three-over-par 75-stroke score on Monday to lead the field. Antonia Ho followed closely behind with a five-over-par 77-stroke score.
Our Lady of the Lake was led by three golfers standing in the top-10 after the first round. Grayson Weiler stands in third place individually after carding an eight-over-par 80-stroke score. Samantha Garcia posted an 81-stroke score to stand in fourth place. Sophia Young is in seventh place individually after an 84-stroke score.
Texas A&M-Texarkana was paced by Liberty Thompson with a 10-over-par 82-stroke score to stand in fifth place. Texas A&M-Victoria's Madeline Pate also had an 82 during Monday's action.
The 2026 CAC Women's Golf Championship concludes with another 18 holes on Tuesday, April 28.
