Six Teams Competing for 2025 CAC Women’s Basketball Title

Postseason hardware and opportunities are at stake as six teams from throughout the country compete in the 2025 Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament, starting Thursday, February 27, at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.

First-round action features No. 3 seed Washington Adventist University (Maryland) playing No. 6 seed Florida National University at 1 p.m. Then, No. 4 seed Carolina University (North Carolina) faces No. 5 Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) in a 5 p.m. matchup of two teams making their postseason debuts.

Semifinal games are set for Saturday, March 1, with top seed Northern New Mexico College playing the winner of the Carolina-Spartanburg Methodist contest. Meanwhile, No. 2 seed Haskell Indian Nations plays the winner of the Washington Adventist-Florida National contest.

The championship game is scheduled on Sunday, March 2, at 4 p.m.

Northern New Mexico (18-10) won all three games against CAC opponents this winter and posted an 11-1 mark on their home floor. Ethena Silva leads the Eagles with 11.3 points per game. Miranda Salazar has recorded 55 steals and grabbed 5.5 rebounds a game this season. The team is holding opponents to 56.7 points per game.

Haskell Indian Nations (11-13) posted a 4-1 conference record. Myona Dauphinais tops the team at 15.7 points per outing and 64 made 3-pointers. Mahpiya Irving has scored 10.9 points a game. Tierzah Penn has connected on 46 3-point field goals and rounds out the team's balanced scoring attack at 10.7 points per game.

Washington Adventist (15-10) has won all five of its games played on a neutral floor this season, while posting a 7-1 CAC mark. Isabela Lujan-Gonzales has made a team-best 39 3-pointers to lead the Shock at 15.1 points a game. Amani Ball is averaging 13.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per outing.

Carolina (14-6) has won two of its three games against conference opponents this winter. Le'Asia Matthews leads the Bruins at 12.9 points per outing. Felesia Ondongo is averaging 12.1 points a game. Bianca Gonzalez has made a team-best 31 3-point field goals.

Spartanburg Methodist (10-16) has a 5-4 conference record and went 4-4 in road games this season. The Pioneers are led by JaiDah Liebert at 13.3 points per outing, while making 40 3-point field goals. Destiny Middleton has started 25 games and is scoring at a 12.8-point clip. Najah Gilliam is averaging 11.7 points per contest.

Florida National University (9-12) split its six conference games and went 3-1 in neutral-site games. Charlette Leurs is averaging 20.2 points and 16.1 rebounds per outing. Janelisse Marty Marrero is scoring at an 18.3-point clip and has recorded 136 assists. Kyla Cruz Baez also is a double-figure scorer at 11.3 points a game.
