Arkansas Baptist’s Jefferson, Spartanburg Methodist’s Gallman Named CAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week
Arkansas Baptist College junior Ariel Jefferson and Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) senior Emiya Gallman have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week.
Jefferson, the offensive honoree, averaged 20.5 points and 17.5 rebounds in splitting two games during the week. The forward scored 25 points to go along with 16 rebounds in a 66-45 triumph against Southeastern Baptist College (Mississippi) last Wednesday.
The Clarendon, Arkansas, native added 16 points and 19 rebounds against Stillman College (Alabama) last Saturday.
Jefferson made 43.2% of her field goals for the week, highlighted by a 10-of-17 shooting performance against Southeastern Baptist.
Gallman, the defensive award recipient, averaged 9.7 rebounds along with having five blocks in three games against CAC opponents. The 6-foot-1 center anchored the Pioneers' defense.
The Columbia, South Carolina, native had 10 rebounds and two blocked shots in a 72-58 win against Morris College (South Carolina) last Monday. Gallman added eight rebounds and three blocked shots in a setback to Washington Adventist University (Maryland) last Friday. The senior followed by grabbing 11 rebounds in a victory against Fisher College (Massachusetts) last Saturday.
