Strong Performances Lead to CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors

Strong all-around performances have earned Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) junior Tierzah Penn and Florida National University senior Charlette Leurs honors as the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week.

Penn, the offensive honoree, averaged 23 points in games against two fellow CAC opponents. The 5-foot-6 guard made eight of her 16 3-pointers and averaged 3.5 rebounds while collecting four steals.

The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native tallied 18 points in a win against Washington Adventist University (Maryland) last Friday. She followed that performance by scoring 28 points against Fisher College (Massachusetts) on Sunday.

Leurs, the Defensive Player of the Week, stuffed the statistics sheet in two games for the Conquistadors. The forward had 20 points and 16 rebounds in an 84-76 loss at Washington Adventist on Sunday.

The Brewster, New York, native began the week by scoring 23 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in a 30-point win against the University of Fort Lauderdale (Florida) last Friday. Leurs also averaged three blocks and 1.5 steals across both contests.
