The new year has started with Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) freshman Mia Hansen and Northern New Mexico College senior Miranda Salazar being named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week.

Hansen, the offensive honoree, averaged 17 points and six rebounds across two games for the Pioneers. The guard shot 46.2% from the floor and 35.7% from behind the 3-point field goal arc. Hansen scored 21 points, behind four 3-pointers, in an 86-62 loss at Johnson University (Tennessee) on December 30. She then chipped in 13 points in a 66-56 loss to Tennessee Wesleyan University on the next day.

Salazar, the defensive recipient, helped the Eagles limit NCAA Division II University of Western Colorado to 64 points and forced 17 turnovers. The guard had five steals and grabbed seven rebounds last Saturday. Salazar scored 11 points and recorded five assists in the contest.
