Florida Runners Collect CAC Cross Country Weekly Awards

A pair of runners from Florida colleges have collected the Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week awards.

Florida College sophomore Sam Johnson, the men's honoree, placed fifth out of 48 runners at the Valdosta State University Border Clash in Georgia. He covered the 7.25-kilometer course in 25:37. Johnson was the first NAIA runner to cross the finish line after four NCAA Division II competitors.

Meanwhile Florida National University junior Mia Betancourt, the women's award winner, recorded a personal-best 5-kilometer time with a 23:33.2 performance at the Keiser University Flagship Invitational in West Palm Beach, Florida. She placed 47th in the meet that featured NCAA Division I and Division II runners.
