Florida National’s Martinez, Spartanburg Methodist’s Brannon Garner CAC Men’s Outdoor Track Player of the Week Awards

Florida National University sophomore Mario Martinez and Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) freshman Javion Brannon have garnered the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week awards.

Martinez, the Athlete of the Week, recorded three personal records and a school record at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic. Over the two days in Daytona Beach, Florida, the sophomore posted a school record and top 400-meter race time (48.97) in the CAC this spring.

The Miami native had personal best times in the 1,500-meter race (4:14.13) and 200-meter dash (22.61) – the second and third best times, respectively, in the conference this season.

Brannon, the Field Player of the Week, improved on his season and school record in the long jump (6.12 meters) to place eighth in the Tornado Classic last Friday.
