University of Victoria Takes Early Lead at 2026 CAC Men’s Golf Championship
Consistent scores have defending champion University of Victoria (British Columbia) out front after Monday's first round at the 2026 Continental Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at Rockwind Community Links Golf Course, being hosted by the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico.
The No. 22-ranked Vikes had three rounds in the 70s to lead by 11 strokes. Victoria posted a 307 team score on Monday. Hesston College (Kansas) stands second with a 318 team score, while Florida College follows closely behind with a 322 score. Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) carded a 346 team score, Alice Lloyd College (Kentucky) had a 351 team score, and Fisk University (Tennessee) rounded out the six-team field with a 384 team score.
Jagre Knight and Owen Croft each shot two-over-par 74 rounds on Monday. Croft recorded four birdies, including three during the back nine.
Maguire Lines added a six-over-par 78-stroke score to the Vikes' strong start and stands in fourth place individually.
Hesston's Liam Leikeryd and Max Laser Edin each posted rounds of 78 to tie for fourth place individually. Kory Meireis carded a seven-over-par 79-stroke score in the first of three rounds in the tournament.
Florida College was paced by James Ammirati with a 79 score that featured an eagle on the opening hole. Riley Warecke had an 80-stroke score to stand in ninth place individually.
Fisk's Henry Baskin stands in third place with a 75-stroke score. He had three birdies during the first round.
The 2026 CAC Men's Golf Championship continues with rounds on Tuesday, April 28 and Wednesday, April 29.
