Seniors Garner CAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards
Seniors from Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) and Washington Adventist University (Maryland) have received the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards.
Spartanburg Methodist's Bryan Bayonne earned the offensive honor and Washington Adventist's Rande Harper is the defensive award recipient.
Bayonne averaged 26.3 points and 6.3 rebounds to lead the Pioneers to a 2-1 record in three games last week, with two against CAC opponents at Fisher College (Massachusetts) last weekend. The guard played nearly every minute of each contest.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native made seven 3-point field goals and made 24 of his 27 from the free throw line. Bayonne scored 28 points to go along with six rebounds in SMC's 78-71 win against Fisher last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Harper averaged 4.7 rebounds and tallied 10 steals across three games for the Shock. The guard scored 31 points and had eight rebounds and four steals in a 99-91 victory against Morris College (South Carolina) last Saturday. The Greenville, South Carolina, native also averaged 16.3 points per contest for the week. The senior recorded 10 points, five rebounds and four steals in an 81-69 win against Spartanburg Methodist last Friday in Boston, Massachusetts.
