Florida National’s Arnum, Carolina’s Sampson Earn CAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards
Strong outings by Florida National University sophomore Jeremy Arnum and Carolina University (North Carolina) senior Dakota Sampson have earned them the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards.
Arnum, the offensive honoree, averaged 20.5 points per contest and made 44.8% of her field goals as the Conquistadors split two games in games at Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas). He scored 21 points and four 3-pointers in the team's 79-71 setback to Northern New Mexico College last Saturday.
The Torrington, Connecticut, native began the week by tallying 20 points on another four 3-point field goals in FNU's 91-78 win against tournament hosts last Friday. Arnum also averaged seven rebounds and three assists for the week.
Sampson, the defensive honoree, had five blocked shots and a steal in the Bruins' 79-76 loss to Clinton College (South Carolina) last Wednesday. The forward tallied six rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal in the team's 101-47 win against Virginia University of Lynchburg last Thursday.
