Carolina Players Sweep CAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Carolina University (North Carolina) senior Danny Gonzalez and junior Jasean Brown have been selected for the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards.

Gonzalez, the Hitter of the Week, was a consistent force at the plate for the Bruins, hitting five home runs and driving in seven runs while batting .467 during the week. He had multiple home run games in both games of last Saturday's doubleheader sweep against CAC member Fisher College (Massachusetts). The Puerto Rico native also hit a pair of solo homers as part of a 3-for-3 performance in the series finale. Gonzalez had an impressive 1.533 slugging percentage while tallying extra-base hits in three of the four games last week.

Brown, the Pitcher of the Week, delivered a dominant performance with a complete game in last Friday's game against the Falcons. He struck out seven batters and scattered six hits in the outing. The Mayodan, North Carolina, native allowed two earned runs and one walk in the game.
