West Coast Players Garner CAC Baseball Player of the Week Awards

Westcliff University (California) senior Jack Varney and Simpson University (California) senior Bo Valladao have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week.

Varney, the Hitter of the Week, batted .800 (4-for-5), with three homers, and drove in five runs during a pair of victories. The first baseman went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double in a 9-4 win against Bethesda University (California) last Tuesday. He followed with a 2-for-2 performance, including a pair of home runs, in an 11-2 win against Nobel University (California) last Friday.

Valladao, the Pitcher of the Week, had six strikeouts while tossing a no-hitter in a 12-0 victory against Cal Tech last Saturday. He allowed just one walk in the dominant outing.
