Juniors Named CAC Baseball Players of the Week

Simpson University (California) junior Justin Lucas and Georgia Gwinnett College junior Peyton Castellow have received the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards.

Lucas, the Hitter of the Week, went 5-for-10 and scored four runs in helping the team win a three-game series against Bethesda University (California). Two of the catcher's hits were home runs while he also had two doubles. He drove in four runs in the series-deciding victory last Friday.

Castellow, the Pitcher of the Week, was outstanding across two appearances by striking out 10 batters and allowing three hits in five scoreless innings last Monday against Indiana Tech, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll. The left hander then retired all three batters he faced in a scoreless inning in a bullpen performance against Montreat College (North Carolina), another receiving votes team last Friday. Castellow's 10 strikeouts mark the second game this season that he has had double digits in that statistical category.
