CAC Announces First Baseball Players of the Week for March

Georgia Gwinnett College junior Trey Smith and Westcliff University (California) sophomore Boston Souza have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week to open March.

Smith, the Hitter of the Week, hit three home runs and drove in eight runs as the No. 2-ranked Grizzlies won all four games for the week. He hit a home run in each contest of a three-game series last weekend at Lindsey Wilson University (Kentucky). The San Antonio, Texas, native scored seven runs and was a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. Smith batted .421 for the week after also tallying three hits against No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan University.

Souza, the Pitcher of the Week, had seven strikeouts across seven scoreless innings in an 8-0 victory against Whittier College (California) last Tuesday. He went 1-0 and had a 2.00 earned run average for the week, with eight strikeouts across nine innings in two mound appearances.
