Georgia Gwinnett College’s Harrell Named 2025 CAC Baseball Player of the Year
Georgia Gwinnett College's Alex Harrell has been named the 2025 Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year as all-conference honors were announced on the eve of the championship tournament, starting Friday at the Grizzly Baseball Complex in Lawrenceville.
Among other specialty awards, GGC's Ben Harris received the Pitcher of the Year award and Jeremy Sheetinger was selected as Coach of the Year.
Also, Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) Jarian Pinckney earned the Newcomer of the Year award and teammate Justin Dawkins was named Freshman of the Year.
Harrell leads the Grizzlies with a .466 batting average, behind 75 hits, 73 runs scored and 62 runs batted in. The outfielder also has 20 doubles, four home runs and four triples in 47 games.
Harris earns Pitcher of the Year honors for the second straight year. The right hander posted a 9-0 record and 2.43 earned run average in 12 starts this spring and tossed a complete game in a 4-1 win against No. 3 Reinhardt University (Georgia) on April 8. He has 76 strikeouts across 66.2 innings.
Sheetinger guided the No. 2-ranked Grizzlies to a 46-4 record and the top seed in the 2025 CAC Baseball Championship Tournament.
Pinckney leads SMC with a .376 average and has 64 hits, 47 runs scored, 17 doubles, and 36 RBI. He has also been successful in stealing 21 bases while starting 46 games.
Dawkins follows closely behind Pinckney with a .373 batting average and has connected on eight homers and 34 RBI in 45 games for the Pioneers. He also has four triples and 39 runs scored this season.
The 2025 CAC Baseball Championship Tournament begins on Friday, May 2, and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, May 4.
