Georgia Gwinnett College Sweeps Final CAC Baseball Weekly Awards for 2025 Season

A pair of senior Georgia Gwinnett College baseball players have garnered the final Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week awards for the 2025 season.

Jon Ponder, the Hitter of the Week, established a school record after having nine RBI in a game during the Grizzlies' four-game series sweep at CAC opponent Fisher College (Massachusetts) last weekend. The outfielder went 5-for-6, with five runs scored, in the opening game of last Saturday's doubleheader. He connected on a pair of home runs in the contest.

The Lawrenceville native registered multiple-hit performances in three of the four games to hit .556 (10-for-18) with 14 RBI and three homers in the weekend series against the Fisher.

Anthony Patterson III, the Pitcher of the Week, struck out seven batters and allowed just one hit across five scoreless innings against Fisher last Friday. He helped the No. 2-ranked Grizzlies post their fourth shutout of the season.

The righthander from Clarksville, Tennessee, has won his last two starts – both against CAC opposition. He tossed a shutout against Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) during the CAC Showdown on April 18.

Georgia Gwinnett College is the top seed for the 2025 CAC Baseball Championship tournament and will face No. 4 seed Fisher on Friday, May 2, at the Grizzly Baseball Complex, starting at 1 p.m. Spartanburg Methodist, the No. 2 seed, and Florida National University, the No. 3 seed, round out the double-elimination tournament. A champion is scheduled to be crowned on Sunday, May 4, and will represent the conference in the NAIA postseason tournament.
